Tweed

Tweed is a gorgeous but very naughty 9 month old Cocker Spaniel who recently presented to us after eating one of her mum's socks.......!

Tweed was very excited about her trip in to see everyone and she hadn’t realised that a sock could pass out of her stomach into her guts causing a blockage and requiring emergency surgery!

Happily, as Tweed’s mum realised what had happened quickly, she brought Tweed straight down to the surgery for an emergency appointment and our Clinical Director, Rebecca was able to admit Tweed and induce emesis – otherwise called making her sick.

There is an effective and quick acting medication that allowed Tweed to bring up the sock she had eaten along with the rest of her stomach contents. Our nursing team were responsible for some TLC during this procedure and cuddles when she was recovered. Once her stomach was emptied and she was back to normal she was able to go home again 😊
